This place was one of the major centres in the mediaeval history of India and an important place for trading with the Tibetan people. 

  • Daranghati Wildlife Sanctuary: Daranghati Wildlife Sanctuary houses a plethora of forest denizens across a diversity of habitats that not many sanctuaries can boast of. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 16740 hectares.

The nearest airport to Sarahan is Jubbarhatti, in Shimla, approximately 165 km away from Sarahan. There is a bigger and more reliable airport in Chandigarh, which is fairly well connected domestically. The distance from Chandigarh to Sarahan is 275 km. The other nearby airport is Bhuntar Airport, also known as Kullu Manali Airport.  From here, get a bus or hire a taxi to Sarahan.

By Train

The nearest railway station is Kalka, which is located approximately 84 km from Sarahan. This station is well connected to Shimla Railway Station, which in turn has trains plying to and from several Indian cities, such as Kumarhatti, Gumman, Barog, Sonwara, Kandaghat, Kathleeghat, Taradevi, and Summer Hill.
