Padam Palace Himachal

Rampur Bushahr, 128 kilometers from Shimla, was the last Bushahr capital.  The Bashar dynasty governed Kinnaur and Shimla from Kamru Fort in Sangla. They moved to Sarahan along the Sutlej River and then to Rampur Bushahr a century later.

The dynasty's origins are in Lord Krishna's household. Numerous temples support this notion.

The town's only palace is the Padam Palace. Enter the Palace by its enormous gate by bypassing the old Nau Nabh hotel, which is part of the palace complex.

Indo-Saracenic, a revivalist style adopted by the British raj in India, inspired Padam's building. British colonial architects designed residences for princely state monarchs along similar lines.

The Palace has opulent chambers, a library, big hallways loaded with antiques, royal family pictures, and precious antique furniture, according to the neighborhood.

Rampur Bushahr is open year-round. March–June, summertime. June-September is monsoon season. September to November is cold but wonderful for exploring.

Roads sometimes close, so check before traveling.
