Prashar Lake : A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Himachal

Built by the King Ban Sen in the 13-14th century this temple,in which Rishi stays as a pindi. Constructed from a single deodar tree and believed that it took 12 years to build the entire temple. How To Reach Prashar Lake

The lake is accessible by a trek or through road (Motorable). As there is no direct public transport available to the common starting point for Biaggi, Mandi remains an option. Public transport is one of the most feasible and convenient options.

Prashar Lake Trek

Prashar Lake Trek – 8957 feet above sea level, Kullu Valley. It is 16 kilometers trekking which falls under an easy category. The Prashar Lake Trek is enclosed by the Kinnaur, Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal Mountain ranges. The path goes through magical woods and snow-covered summits. Along the way, you can see oak, pine and rhododendrons on either side with some groves of apple orchids. Prashar Lake Trek, Trail Information

Day 1: Kantlu to Prashar Lake

Elevation: 6,050 feet (1,844 m) to 8,900 feet (2,713 m

Duration: 1 hour drive + 5 hours trek, Distance:7.05 km

Trek gradient:  Moderate. From here, the climb is steep but it only lasts for 500 meter.

Water Sources: Carry at least 2 liters of water because there is only one water resource till around 2.6 km into the trek.

Day 2: Prashar Lake to Kantlu

Altitude: 8,900-6,050 ft

Duration: 3.5 hours Length: 7.7 km

Trek gradient: Easy.  Mostly downhill, a little uphill.

Continue along this path to Kantlu, which is 2 km from Halgarh.

Stop your vehicle at Kantlu, have lunch and leave for Mandi.

Summer (April to June) and Winter (January) are the best seasons to do this trek. Would you rather have some greenery and nature, travel in the summer months, but if your interest would be for snowfall then winter season it’s perfect.

Difficulty Of Prashar Lake Trek   

It is an easy trek with moderate trail till the Prashar Lake and it can be done in about every season. It is an easy trek as the ascent can only be done by foot which adds to your physical strength. The trek is also done in winters, but heavy snowfall makes the trail slippery and dangerous. The monsoon season is terrible too. Things to Carry during Prashar Lake Trek

1. Trekking Shoes: Get good grip trekking shoes with ankle support. Do not carry sports shoes.
2. Clothing: Three layer jacket for warm, fleece or down featherly jacket. Take 1 or 2 full sleeve t-shirts. For lowers wear thick cotton trousers on a trek. Jeans or shorts should not be taken along during trekking.
3. Thermals: Pack top thermals and bottom thermals.
4. Socks: 2 – 3 pairs of sports socksand, woolen pair to wear at night

6. Sunglasses will help you to protect from sunlight in snow and that too, if it is UV rays protected.

8. Lunch box & Water bottle: Every participant should get their own lunchbox and water bottles.
9. Raincoat/Ponchos: The snow or rain is often not at all common in a region with high altitude, so it should travel poncho.
